[Gelbs] The Mets have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.

Because I don’t like this notion that a team that includes a 2x Cy Young winner, a former ROY, a perennial MVP candidate shortstop, a .300 hitting second baseman, and a .400 OBP outfielder (to name a few) owned by a man worth 15 billion dollars can’t put together the pieces to contend

I agree with the first part of this.

The 15 billion dollars part isn't really relevant. It's a business. They're not gonna go deep into the red just because the owner is super-rich.

They don't pull in a lot of revenue, and they have already spending in the top 6 or 7 teams for the past three years. They're going to have to win first and then add payroll.
