The Gender Pay Gap Is Largely Because of Motherhood

Yep. Free. We're already paying for not having it in societal costs. I'll copy from the website that I linked above.

"ECE benefit estimates, both short and long term, included some or all of the following major components:

Increases in maternal employment and income[2] Reductions in crime, welfare dependency, and child abuse and neglect[2, 27] Savings in remedial education and child care costs[2] Improvement in health outcomes associated with education[2] Earnings gains associated with high school graduation[2, 27]"

Those are all things we as tax payers cover. Things like repeat petty criminals, or locking people up long term. Things like remedial education to public school kids who aren't at grade level in math or reading. Things like health care declines relating to poor educstion. We already provide "free education" for kindergarten through highschool. I'm talking about extending it to younger kids to provide a general benefit to society when they grow up.

So yeah, I think it's worth calling it "free."
