General College Chemistry I - have I made a mistake?

Does your school offer intro? This sounds like a higher class, a pre-req for another class like organic chem. From my experience, general college chemistry WAY different from introduction and high school chem. I did really well in intro just using notes straight from lecture. I enjoy science classes. My school offered an intro class that went through the very basics of chemistry: atom, theories, nomenclature, and a little bit of stoichiometry. My general chem professor assumed that we learned the basics and moved passed that and went into specifics like quantum mechanic theory. In short, this class kicked my ass. There is so much content that is dependent on previous chapters and I spent most of my time with a tutor. If you don't understand an early portion and you're not willing to put the time and effort, drop.
