[General] Visualizing overspent categories?

Hmm, i get what you're saying, and i sort of agree.. but that still doesn't help me have a "budget" lol.

Think of it this way, we all have to set limits to what we spend each month. Eating out, etc. If i spend too much money eating out, i want clear visibility on when i break that. If i just shuffle money around all i do is drain money from things that are important, such as health care.

Now, i broke my budget by eating out too much, i literally took money from health care and ate out with it. All i'm trying to figure out is if there's a good way to see what budgets went over/etc.

What i'm doing currently is just leaving it in the orange state. At the end of the month it's very clear that something is wrong. In some cases, like groceries, i may decide that i need to prioritize more money towards groceries. In the case of eating out, i may decide i need to cut back.

However, to make those decisions, i'm asking if there's ways to visualize overages - to help me plan properly.

Priorities: changed. Maybe you wanted to keep fast food spending under $10 for the week. But then, maybe you got really hungry on Friday, and ribs sounded amazing....and it was worth it to you to move some money from your 'fun & games' fund. Priorities: changed.

Yea, and i'm asking how to identify how many of these "changes" happened. A budget by definition is a plan, and these changes break the plan. As i explained, i don't mind reshuffling to green everything out, all i want to know is how many of these "changes" took place.

Ie, how many times did my plan fail. That's all
