Stoking this sort of generational antipathy is an example of how identity politics is used as a wedge to divide people with otherwise common interests in the service of...the one percent and the plutocrats.

It's not like many of the specific problems are beyond repair. Affordable housing, affordable education beyond high-school, student debt forgiveness or restructuring, single-payer healthcare, a living wage.

The GOP is setting about solving one particular problem right now: decreasing the tax burden on the wealthy.
