Genius & Effort, ‘Mata’ Cho Se-hyeong Speaks on a Year in China

Mmh, I don't agree with that. KT A weren't bad, they were just the definition of inconsistent. They could be gods one game and trash the next one. So no, I don't think that's bad.

This is pretty bad, if you take in count everygame they've played in summer + regionals they had a 14 wins 10 losses record, compare that with S3/S5 SKT or even S4 SSW's records and you get over 70% winrate, it's just not the same at all.

KTA was a pretty mediocre team, the worst to ever win OGN surely and I don't think they were inconsistent at all, their playstyle was just goes ham which led to either quick wins or losses, it's the nature of their playstyle that was unreliable, not them playing worse or better inbetween game of a series.

Else, you could argue that SKT almost losing to CJ in S5, when that team had been the definition of hit or miss is unforgivable for one of the the most dominant team lol ever saw.

That's an awful comparison because

1) SKT did not loses (they were clutch when they needed to be)

2) SKT started their sub jungler in the 2 games they lost and went 3-0 with their starting lineup.

You also have to consider the level of play of those series as well. KTA vs SSB is probably the greatest Bo5 ever, that counts as well when judging SSB

It was the most entertaining BO5 ever, not the best one as far as high lvl league of legends goes, teams were much better in S5 than in S4 just like teams were way better in S4 than in S3, Mata talks about it in this interview.

For example what SSW was doing at S4 worlds was unknown to all the others teams, the way they played around the jgl/support synergy was something nobody else could replicate or understand as well as them.

In S5 almost every pro team learned to do that though and it became the standart across the world, teams learned to play it and to counter it.

If you look at the CN lpl and EDG they tried to replicate SSW jgl/supp synergy so much that when they went to Worlds and lost Sanshao (manager) wrote about how CN teams were so focused on trying to copy SSW that they didn't realize the meta had shifted and this playstyle was no longer optimal and could easily be countered.

That series wasn't even the best of S5 if we're purely speaking about high lvl League of legends, Blue actually played extremely bad compared to their Spring standarts (I actually think Blue got worse from Spring to Summer/Worlds), their early game was abysmall and foreshadowed what would later happen at S4 worlds (SSW curbstomping them every early game).

If we're being real the SSW/SSB series from OGN Summer was on a higher calibeer of gameplay, the one from spring had that clownfiesta game 3 so I wouldn't argue in favor or it and the one from worlds was too onesided
