"Genuinely masculine"

when someone describes themselves as "masc" or really emphasizes their masculinity as their "identity", it is a clear indication there is over compensation and most of the time, it does stem from some type of internalized homophobia or an attempt to correct or be apologetic for your homosexuality as if it is an abnormality, weakness, or problem...

Nobody, NOBODY who is comfortable in their sexuality and gender thinks of themselves as masculine or feminine. it is not something stable people obsesses over or value others by.

how gay men talk about masculinity online or on dating apps is in the way of: the display of straight-acting characteristics makes one more valuable, worthy or desirable.

I find that type of "masc" or "str8 acting" mentality to be regressive and a sign of insecurity. I'm going to avoid talking about masculinity with strangers on reddit now, goodbye!
