George Santos used fake Jewish name on GoFundMe because he thought 'Jews will give more,' former roommate says

That's not true. Voters need information to make educated, informed decisions. Currently, all the parties and constituents can go off of, is the information available. The media shouldn't be the sole vetting figure. How is that THEIR responsibility? And how can they be trusted to not have an agenda? Or be bought off? Do you know who owns the majority of media in America? They are privately owned organizations by the same few billionaires that obviously have their own agendas. And can benefit by having certain candidates in office. See: Fox News and President Trump.

Also, the media is not equipped or authorized to obtain certain information. A lot of information is not authorized for the media to access.

Security checks should be based on the level of information an individual is required to access. Isn't MTG on the Homeland Security committee? Do you know the level of information she will have access/required to know as a member of that committee?

One of the purposes of a basic security check is to determine people potentially susceptible to being bribed, blackmailed or bought. There are red flags identified. If we want the constituents and even the media to select candidates who are qualified and trusted to hold the highest positions in our government, it helps to know if they are in debt, received funding or money from questionable sources, have a gambling problems, substance abuse problems, have vices, income tax fraud/debt, a criminal history, etc. why shouldn't the public have access to that type of information. It's common sense. And adds another level of vetting. Let the people decide with basic information. I'm not calling for a smear campaign. BASIC fucking information anyone running for office, should gladly provide.

Any process that allows someone like Santos to get elected without the electors having pertinent information when voting is flawed. And reflects poorly on the current process. Why do you think N. Korea, Iran, Saudi, Russia, etc. have the ability to very simply (currently, they could do so, with minimal effort). Billionaires (very wealthy individuals or organizations could literally install whoever and as many candidates as they want currently.

"The Constitution gives them the right to hide pertinent information or literally give falsified information." 1788 was a VERY different time. Even the architects of the Constitution didn't expect people to be so gullible and rigid, to not make the Constitution a living document based on new information, changing times, and new capabilities. It was based on THEIR time period, their available information, and their circumstances.

It was intended to be a living document to change as the world changed. And while it shouldn't be changed for trival reasons or frequently, Amendments were designed and introduced to be used for reasonable necessities. Democratic republics are established and designed by nature to ensure supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives. Which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch. If only people with monetary and other resources can run the Republic, then the entire purpose of having one is obsolete and broken. The architects of the documents assumed common sense would exist in the future.

The Republican leadership and voters would have probably had different sentiments on Santos if they had access to more information on him. Only people with shady intentions would have a problem with this. There are literally no valid reasons to object to basic background checks. Name one valid or exceptable reason to object?

If America doesn't change the direction it's headed, then I guess it's true that American capitalism is spiraling into its final death throes. Background checks cover very basic information. They are tools to make decisions, not the decisions. Why would a regular member of the U.S. majority populace object to basic background checks? People like Santos, MTG, Gaetz, and Boebert (along with a myriad of other politicians) that normally would just be regular members of the working-class suddenly and mysteriously gain $millions as a low-level politician. That literally does nothing impacting or introducing any policies that actually benefit the working class. They only in act measures or propose legislation that benefit only the 1% that supports them. And there is no effort to even pretend that they are doing anything contrary to that statement.
