Georgia Democrat aims to be nation’s first female African American governor

if she turns out to be another center / right neoliberal type corporate Democrat than it's just bittersweet

Everything I know about her says she most definitely is that.

She worked with Nathan Deal to cut Hope Scholorship back in 2011 and uses that to boast that she helped "save" HOPE scholarship.

Identity politics would be arguing that we ought to vote for her simply BECAUSE she is black and a woman. Pointing it out is not identity politics. It's a hugely important fact as it's indicative of a deep seeded white supremacy we still have to work on. It illustrates that black people and black women especially have been excluded and refused opportunities. Seeing this happen is progress and it's worth pointing out.

That said... it's not enough to convince me to vote for her. She seems like a typical Georgia D who will say one thing while selling you out out every step of the way.

It's crazy to me that these same people are now throwing the word "progressive" around now that it suits them.

I need to see more before I'm convinced.
