German AfD leader derides Holocaust memorial as 'monument of shame': "We need to turn the commemoration policy 180 degrees,” he said, calling for more attention to be given to the German victims of the Second World War rather than groups persecuted by the Nazis.

As a Jew, I am a huge fan of modern Germany, because more so than any other country, they have collectively reflected upon the lessons of the 20th century, and have integrated those liberal-democratic ideals into every aspect of their society and how they raise and socialize their children, how they conduct themselves in global affairs, etc. The seriousness with which they reflect upon their nation's actions, and they guilty memories that they decide to carry, is I think what makes them the strongest modern nation. That they intentionally carry those memories is a sign of the highest order of strength and humanity.

They can do what they want, they can decide that they're finished with all that, but I'm happy that Israel has nukes because... if Germany gets any crazy ideas... as far as I'm concerned, the Jewish people have a running tab for 6,000,000 souls, plus interest and punitive damages. And as long as they're inciting hatred against the Jews anyway, I don't see why we wouldn't decide to invoke a Shylock-inspired rate of interest.
