I think a certain common dark psychological profile of person is attracted to becoming a nun

I doubt many really choose to become a nun.

Organised religion seeks out the weak and helpless because they’re the easiest recruits. They’re lured into a cult by the promise of food and shelter, they’re indoctrinated and then used up by the system.

Just like the cycle of domestic abuse, these nuns would have all been abused themselves.

I’m not defending these women at all, but I’m saying that laying the blame at their feet is blaming the symptom, not the disease.

If you want to believe in the Bible, fine. Read it at home and pray to your God alone. Organised religion is a sickness.
