Some notes on this somber event:

• This is still regardless a perfect example of a successful counter-insurgency by the German SS forces. The Germans completely neutralised a well organised resistance uprising. This could serve as example to any occupying force having to deal with a guerrilla in a city.
• It's not to be forgotten that the Russians/Stalin allowed the uprising to be crushed on purpose. There are physical orders from Stalin that the Soviet troops outside the city, which had completely defeated German forces all across the front, do not intervene. Stalin & the Soviets wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Let the Germans annihilate a political group which would be a thorn in the Soviet side after they occupy the city.
