Getting caught up in the process and I don’t know what socialism is?

What do you mean by reinvestment of surplus value? As I know, both investment and surplus value should not exist in a socialist society. Under Capitalism, (a great) part of workers' rightful income is taken by the bourgeoisie; they call this part of income "profit", we call it the surplus value. Under socialism, workers, who control the means of production, get to decide what and how many to produce and how income is distributed--apart from tax, nothing is taken away from workers' rightful income, so surplus value doesn't exist. The logic of investment is to put money in at first and then later get involve in the profit (surplus value) distribution. Since there's no surplus value anymore, investment will not exist either.
