Getting confused trying to find a my Mothers Biological Father.

Hi,

In order for me to view the results of your DNA test on ancestry, you will need to add me as an approved "viewer" through Ancestry.com. This is a very simple process that takes a few minutes. From the Ancestry DNA homepage, click "Settings" in the upper right corner (it has a gear icon on the button). Scroll to near the bottom of the page where it says "DNA Result Access". Click the "Add a person" button (has a blue + symbol icon). There you can enter my username: frvdi. Leave the role set to "Viewer" (I don't need collaborator or manager access to help you, just viewing is fine). Then click "Send Invitation". You can remove my viewing access in the future through this same part of the webpage (if you choose).

I assume you meant GEDmatch (GEDCOM is a type of family tree file format -- GEDMatch is a play on that word) -- if so, all I need in order to access your results is your kit number, which should start with "A", followed by six digits. If you don't know your kit number, log into GEDMatch. On the left side of the homepage, near the bottom, there is a panel labelled "Your DNA Resources". Your kit number is listed there.

There are a variety of techniques available for identifying a test that has only initials. Many people are forced to do this when they have a strong match with no tree attached. It really depends on case to case but I might be able to figure it out.

Send the Ancestry invite (if you would like) and I'll take a swing.
