Getting on finasteride while overweight? Bad idea or no?

I noticed my hair loss at 300 pounds when I was losing weight rapidly from 350 pounds. I got on minoxidil. At 280 pounds I got on finasteride. But I was very afraid of gynecomastia as being fat increases estrogen and so does fin. So I did some reading and I don't remember where I read it or if it was broscience but found that while finasteride only inhibits in the bloodstream for roughly a day, it binds to the hair follicles for up to 10 days. I also read about dosages, did you know that 0.25 mg is almost as effective as 1 mg? So during weight loss I did 0.25 mg per week, once a week along with minoxidil once a day. I finished weight loss at 180 pounds and have recovered 98% of my hair. I went from seeing through to my scalp in almost dark rooms/basically having a combover to needing an exceedingly strong light to see bits of my scalp. I'm incredibly happy. Once I stabilized in weight I did 0.25 mg twice a week for three months and then 0.25 mg three times a week where I think I'll stay until Breezula comes out so I can taper off finasteride. It's a good drug but if I can I will jump right off the fin at first sight of a better option because at any point I can be hit with sides.

I don't have neither have I had sides. This was the purpose of the lower dosage at lesser intervals. I've seen it done in other forums too with success. I had pseudogynecomastia when I was obese, that is manboobs but with fat instead of breast tissue. I didn't actually know this until after I lost the weight because they went away. This was one of the reasons I was afraid of taking too much fin.

As for libido, I didn't really notice anything but it went up as I lost weight. I had really hard morning erections during puberty where I think my sex hormones overwhelmed the fat/estrogen but at a point I stopped getting morning erections. Then I started my weight loss journey and I noticed a comeback of morning erections now and then. Then I got on finasteride where I saw a small dip in those few morning erections. Then I lost more weight and finally reached a normal weight and I gain morning erections almost daily. I think what has also helped is the gym. That has a direct impact on my ability for a normal sex drive. I only get random erections in the gym. I get the hardest boners directly afterwards and the morning after.

I know tons of men lose hair during weight loss, especially rapid such as mine, so my hair regrowth might be because I stabilized in weight you say but I actually regrew during the weight loss itself. So IMO, keep it low dose, exercise, and most importantly, lose the weight. I'm really hopeful for Breezula. Sure, it isn't better than finasteride in terms of efficacy but I will feel much more comfortable with no risk for systemic side effects. I'm hoping for at most three to four years more. I really hope I won't get any sides up until then.
