But he had just gotten out of debt and I would have rather have a ring at all than plunge him back into financial hardship for a piece of jewelry. So together we picked a little sapphire (cheaper than a diamond and imo prettier) that I liked and he ordered a simple ring. If anyone in my wider circle would have commented on how small it was I would have blasted that bitch. But my friends aren't shallow idiots, so everyone just hugged us and wished us a lifetime of happiness instead of pissing on my ring.
