I think it's the Ebert / Siskel syndrome. When you have seen this many games for this many years the same mistakes piss you off more and you realize how rare it is to find innovation and exciting twists when damn near everyone is trying to make their version of something hugely popular or something from the past.

Jeff's been at it for a while. Brad too. I think the GOTY discussions will show why they're good at this, though. They might come off as more negative, but I feel like there are solid reasons for their complaints and I still see them get genuinely excited about games, which makes me really want to see what it is about those games that made the difference.
