Girl adopted from Kazakhstan and living in the US. Want to get more in touch with my roots.

Steppe people can differ depending on their sphere of influence. Kazakhs and Mongolians share many genetic and cultural similarities, but their sphere of influence makes Kazakhs lean more towards the Russo-Islamic world, while Mongolians holding onto their Shaman and Tibet-Buddhist beliefs put them closer to Asia and even native aboriginal cultures.

Another example is that Mongolia and Korea differ culturally, but when Manchuria existed, it existed as the cultural buffer of the two empires. On top of that, back during the Mongol occupation of Korea there was some cross-marriage between the two.

I guess the point I'm trying to make, is at the DNA level we are more similar than different and it's only culture and influence that create the differences between us as Asians.
