So... let me get this straight... The German antifa in the 1930's wasn't in support of Hitler.

And iirc the Italian antifa was around in the 1920's... so they're the first... or 'original'.

And iirc, OP wasn't, nor was I, talking about the general rise of communism as a possible factor in Hitler's rise to power. We were talking about antifa specifically.

So... I appreciate the history lesson in German political jockeying pre-1932, but it doesn't address my points.

I would like to say that I used too strong of language in #2. I rechecked the article I read a couple years ago and all it really did was exonerate the guy who they executed for the fire. He was mentally ill and an SA member swore under oath that he was ordered to pick the crazy guy up from an insane asylum and drop him off at the parliament building. And when they arrived, they could already smell the burning fire, which made the SA officer think it wasn't actually the guy who got stuck with the blame.
