I loathe that movie way more than I give a fuck about star wars. Especially since disney took over. It's so terrible it's like if people called The Room a masterpiece and well written. It's bad cinema but it's expensive so it's not allowed to look bad even if it's utter insulting garbage. I don't understand how someone can care about film and find that movie well made or well written.

So I guess the reason there is passion behind the dislike for him and is movie is 1- he's personally was /is an ass when it came to defending his decisions (though many star wars fans are horrid so could just be mirroring what was being thrown at him) and 2- the system around the movie. Not because I give a shit about the IP though it definitely was done dirty but that started before he even touched it. Disney handled the entire IP badly by not having a plan and giving JJ any power. I hate his movies too but he still feels more competent than johnson.
