Glenn Greenwald: Trump is not an abberation from US political culture but its logical outcome.

You're probably not wrong that there will be widespread discontent among the electorate

Until wages rise in real terms

but are you implying Trump is an 'outsider' merely because he won the election on the back of such issues? To many, there hasn't been even the whiff of an outsider since Perot. Unlike Sanders he managed to get onto a televised debate, for all the good it did.

Many people consider Clinton and Trump arch insiders, virtually by definition. Anyone that wins the primary for either of the two parties is carefully vetted, not unlike the Iranian council of guardians except there's two, the DNC and RNC. If you had said 'Nader', 'Perot', 'Stein' even 'Sanders', then you'd have a much stronger argument for 'outsider'. It seems right now the entire democratic strategy seems to be to wage their campaign now and simply hope to win the next election banking on just general dissatisfaction with Trump.

Without addressing such basics as jobs and wages for middle America (literally and figuratively), it's doubtful they'll sway as many as last election, barring unexpected developments like a change of leadership, some revolutionary and progressive platform or black swan events.
