Global Plastic Pollution May Be Nearing an Irreversible Tipping Point

Okay, so the plastic is bad, we all know and agree with that.

The plastic pollution itself isn't affecting climate change as much as the process at which it is made. If we stopped all plastic Production, that'd be a great and wonderful thing, because plastic is a byproduct of oil processing. If we all stop pumping and using oil, then plastic is a non issue and the remaining pollution is already going to be hard to clean up.

So basically, this article is being overdramatic. There is no tipping point for plastic, the fact that we discovered how to make it was the real tipping point. Plastic in and of itself is not as responsible for the climate change we're facing, as the production of and constant consumption of fossil fuels.
