Global warming slowdown never happened, federal study says

This is going to upset a lot of people, but it's really going to piss off all of those AGW believers who have to change positions again.

Not really. Many people (including me) had already noted that the "hiatus" was much less significant when using better coverage for the Arctic.

Now the blogs and believers had a problem - they'd spent years arguing that there was no pause, it's now being redefined as a "slowdown".

That is not at all an accurate description of what happened.

One Reddit user had even gone so far as to delete his comment history where he had argued against the pause because he was now arguing for a slowdown.

Really? Who was it?

So now we've come full circle and once again the pause never happened.

First, it's one paper. We'll have to see how well it stands up to actual scientific criticism (as opposed to the nonsense spouted by AGW deniers since it came out). Second, it was always pretty much understood that the slowdown was a temporary phenomenon. This would simply mean it was even less intense and shorter-lived (i.e. closer to natural variation) than believed at first.

It's oing to be interesting to see the gymnastics performed by the AGW crowd when they put on a showw to explain away the reversals of their positions.

...and yet that will be nothing compared to the gymnastics performed by AGW deniers who have relied on the "it hasn't warmed since 1998" meme for pretty much their entire opposition to AGW theory.

So, again, for those of us who have always considered the slowdown to be minor/temporary, this new study is validation. The ones who are really out on a limb are all the deniers who have been saying for years that "global warming has stopped."

Of course, as one of those, you'll try to shift attention away from your abysmal failure, too bad for you it's not going to work in this sub.
