GM'ing for a predominantly female group, need some advice from the female side of DnD

I DM for four guys and two girls, and I'm a player with two different girls. I find the girls don't pay as much attention to things, they mostly enjoy the social aspect of the game. While one of them does keep notes, she's very inconsistent as she'll write stuff down and then get engaged in conversation and not follow the rest of the encounter.

I find that the girls don't seem to learn the rules as well, they often need to be reminded of things or coached a little. They sometimes come up with complex actions that are hard to work out in game terms. They're looking at the rules as suggestions, the girls want something more free-flowing.

I've also found that girls tend to take NPC encounters personally. If there's a disagreement with an NPC or an NPC lies or betrays them, they find it upsetting.

I've played D&D with seven different women and my experiences have been pretty consistent. Not everyone of them was the same, but they did have those things in common.
