Going to prison soon. Looking for advice.

Thank you. Very well written and you mentioned all the points that were in my head but I couldn't put into words.

many times it’s a very black or white of looking at things, where it’s either 100% your fault or 100% CB’s fault — fundamental attribution error y’all — when instead things are often more residing in grey areas, where a little bit of many things contribute to the way things turn out.

This. People who say "your fault say your fault la why blame gahmenh/CB", they are the problem with our society.

i’d been holding onto hope since the start of CB that I would still be able to attend medical / therapy appointments in-person because that was all that kept me out of bed at all. when all of my in-person appointments suddenly vanished in mid-April (week 2 of CB), i 100% mad spiralled.

I think this shows how badly our institutions and society neglected mental health. It's a bloody joke if psychological services were not considered essential services at the beginning. Some people can't even live a day without professional help.

You think my case was bad? During my trial I met people that literally went INSANE during CB and committed worse offences than mine, like STABBING.

i think you’ll do very well even after you’re released. perhaps the reasonable thing to do for now is to spend the time between now and your release to think about what would make your life fulfilling and break it up into little steps and attainable goals (rather than look at it as one huge major goal that seems so impossible from where you’re at now).

Thank you for having faith in a convict like me and the great advice.

so much research has been done in 2020 about how social isolation and the lack of accessible, affordable biological + mental healthcare resources amid this time have been very significant contributors to increasing rates of mental health diagnoses, crises and attempted + completed suicides in the past year itself. the science supports it)

Agreed. People don't realise the hidden costs of mental health to our society and economy. In my opinion, it's a ticking time bomb unless we start addressing this issue publicly and with compassion. But that has to start at the TOP.
