Gold to the comment which as the most fun/ interesting incident they or a relative have had a huge role in

In ancient India, there were lots of small kingdoms. My grandfather had told me his name and had showed me a very old diary with some stuff written about him, but, I don't even remember his name by now. :/

There's one thing that I do remember because it shocked me. The walls of the 'haveli' (big mansion/very small palace) had around 1 feet wide storage space where he used to keep gold and stuff. Then I asked my grandad, (I was 12 years old at the time maybe) why we weren't super rich then? He told me that the wealth was distributed between two brothers (his sons) and the one I'm a descendent of didn't want any. He wanted to start from scratch. So, that's about all I know.
