I seriously didn't know who was going to win. Yeah, in retrospect it's obvious that the 39-year-old guy who's under contract is going to beat the 50-year-old special attraction, but that's what I thought at Survivor Series too.
Goldberg (the guy, not the character) knew he couldn't give us much more than 5 minutes. Hell, he rarely wrestled past 5 minutes when he was in his prime. Might as well make the most of it.
Not only was this match great in the moment, look at the aftermath:
Now. no one remembers the crapfest that was their first WrestleMania match.
The biggest badass in the company has a primary belt, which makes sense. Especially given that he was never pinned in the match where he lost the previous primary belt.
Someone kicked out of the most unbeatable superstar in wrestling history's finisher for the first time ever
That most unbeatable superstar in wrestling history lost clean for the first time ever. I can't believe this isn't a bigger deal.
Goldberg goes out on his back, assuming this is his last match. And he looked strong. (Unlike The Undertaker, who looked ready to retire.)
Speaking of which, this match would have made a perfect main event. The only reason it didn't was, of course, it had to be overshadowed by the Deadman's last ride.
