There's a laissez-faire attitude with the moderation on this subreddit. If the mods stepped in on a regular basis and cleaned up the threads it wouldn't grow into the issue it is now.

And I know what they'll respond with, so I'll say this... Sometimes the votes shouldn't dictate the content, especially when degenerates who don't know better are involved and push this herd mentality shit where memes and bitching are praised. More often than not, shit the shit gets upvoted while well-thought out arguments are sent to the bottom. For example, just look at the POTD and how there's post after post with 5+ picks that don't even meet the criteria.

Sometimes I wish I was a mod here so I could clean all this shit up and bring it back to the glory days. Maybe forking this subreddit off into another private subreddit for serious discussion and analysis by those with established records (one that's more heavily moderated) would be the thing to do.

You also have mods who've been involved with scammy books, claim to step down as mod, and re-appear again with a mod title.

And not only this, they use the sidebar to push their own referrals as well.
