I think of most costumes as being gender neutral unless they look particularly masculine/feminine. And I know how you feel with the whole being called ‘he’ thing, from what I’ve seen if you tell them you’re actually a ‘she’, it’s either “nobody asked”, all the dudes turn into raging simps or you just get treated as lesser. It scared me off engaging with gaming communities for a long time, but I’m trying to break out of my comfort zone. And I think me interpreting most of my fall guys as being girls might have something to do with me being a girl myself (though I do think of the monkey hero as being a guy) (sorry if that was a bit long hahah)
