I think you may be expecting too much since it is such a wide question, there are a lot of laptops and so much depends on what exactly you are after.

I've bought many random laptops and never had one that plain didn't work at all with Linux (or *BSD for that matter). But I don't care if the Bluetooth works, or the camera, and I have experience and don't mind a bit of faff.

Nowadays you don't have to be as picky as you once did but I would still avoid anything that is unusual or just released, and I would stick to well-known brands.

I've had success with Apple, Acer, Samsung, Dell and Asus laptops.

If you pick some laptops you like the look of and are within your price range then searching or asking about those specifically will tell you if there are problems.
