Yeah I've been rewatching S1 --it's been years since I saw it the first time -- and I was surprised to remember there was a time when they genuinely loved each other -- as best as they knew how, anyway -- and they got along and they did all this cute shit like eating breakfast together and saying 'I love you' on calls and the way they'd smile at each other and how he'd make her laugh and Tom getting nervous about doing anything at his bachelor party and Shiv refusing to speak to Logan after he insulted Tom, etc. At one point Shiv makes a joke about how they'll get divorced and it's so clear she never expected them to. Their relationship was definitely the best before they got married and it's such a stark contrast from what it became and what we just saw in the S4 premiere. I obviously hate both but it's kind of devastating.
