I'm not a Cashman fan, I've been advocating for his replacement for at least 2 years now. BUT I think he knows what you're talking about better than anyone else. It was a desperation move. He knew the payroll wasn't there to add 2 more big bats, he needed 2 big bats to develop from inside the system and these were the 2 likely candidates. I'm sure given the opportunity he would have loved to flip Frazier for a JD Martinez and Andujar for an Anthony Rendon but Hal was never gonna let that happen.
