I can make great money in just about any other field (and back in college take classes in just about any other major) without being around people who are exhaustingly, taxingly naive about others and/or reflexively hostile to others experiences.

Same in my alma mater. The culture was loud and brazenly, proudly obnoxious. You dont have to sit in the stampede to know it is there. I stuck to Bio, made friends with the good CS guys, and never had to tolerate the bullshit of the rest. I will continue to like CS from a distance.
