Google Fires Ph.D Biologist/Engineer For Claiming - "On average, men and women biologically differ in many ways. "

Holy shit! I first saw an article about this on Facebook but didn't have time to read the memo and just perused the comments. So many people are backing Google, I assumed he must has said something at least a little misogynistic or given off the suggestion that women are less suited to the roles.

But no. Not even a little bit. He said there are biological reasons for the gap, Google is discriminating against men in an attempt to close it and that will be do their detriment and possibly even to the detriment to society. Then he even offered suggestions to improve the workplace to make it more female-friendly, suggestions which are actually backed by science rather than just "there are less females, must be the patriarchy! solution: hire women even if they perform worse than their male counterparts".

He got fired for this. Fired. Fired for suggesting a different way of dealing with the gender gap. For suggesting that women don't necessarily suit the environment, and rather than forcing women in to this environment perhaps we should change the environment. Fucking fired.

As someone who works in a scientific field, where women are under-represented and I very regularly see the bias and advantages they get because of that, I'm appalled and very saddened. Just as I was considering writing about my experience without anonymity.
