Gorbachev: "I am ashamed by Putin and Medvedev"

Lol I know you probably think you know what you're talking about it but you really don't.

Says the guy who can't stay on topic.

If we didn't compare countries how would we know what's the best plan for this world?

Holy shit...did I say we shouldn't compare countries? We are talking about diversifying an single resource economy and that applies to every economy. Comparing economies in this instance is pointless except, you know, knowing that non-diversified economies are much more vulnerable to booms and busts than diversified.

Secondly Russia doesn't just export one resource so it'a not a single source economy.

and I don't know what Im talking about...the irony. For the purposes of this discussion Russia sure as hell qualifies as single source. Oil dominates their economy. What are you talking about? Just because they sell other products isn't enough. They need to be sectors of the economy that sustain the nation to the point that if, in this case, the price of oil drops, the rest of the economy isn't fucked. Like in the US.

Your third point, yet again, is pointless. You didn't bring up Nigeria for any other reason but poverty rate. Now, because you feel dumb, you switched to dutch disease. And to deal with dutch disease you...wait for it...diversify your economy. And you don't freaking need to compare economies to understand dutch disease. You're all over the place.

But Nigeria has failed to use this revenue where as Putins Russia has done this to a certain extent.

No he hasn't. If you read the headlines and, well, what any respected economist has to say about Russia's economy you'd know this is woefully wrong. Never mind that you started this by saying "He just needs to diversify his exports." This is hilarious. So which is it? Does he need to diversify or has he done it "to a certain extent."

Now what does all this have to do with the fact that economists have been telling Russia to diversify their economy since they moved to a market economy? Oh and I have an MA in IR and an MBA. But now you'll put that down even though you brought my education up. Thats what guys like you do.
