Got beat down in PvP... After I messaged the guy asking for advice

Well quit crying.

I'll prep for downvotes here but if you're getting hit by all three of them at once you most likely did something wrong and deserved to be ganked.

Here's the deal.

Invasions are not fair. Invasions are not honorable. Invasions do not have rules or set teams. Invasions are not you proving how good you are.

If you don't like any of those qualifiers then you should stop invading people right now because them's the breaks. It is 100% legit and logical for them to gank the shit out of you for invading their world.

If you want to invade properly, stop being so god damned entitled, like you deserve a fair fight, like you deserve for them to play the way you want them to, like you deserve for them to leave the safety of the bonfire. Like Ringfinger Leonhard says, don't push your romanticism on the rest of us.

Instead don the mask of the conniving spawn of Nashandra and the boogeyman and screw with them until either you die or every last opponent has been eliminated.

First, know your area. I don't mean have a general idea of where all the passages are, I mean know where every mob, trap, interactable object and scripted event you can get your hands on is.

Then, convince your prey they are waaay better than you are. This takes a degree of in-game acting. Start the fight off with some scrublike attacks, maybe miss a few times on purpose, get hit once or twice and roll away behind a mob, then when they pause to consider heal even if you barely lost any health.

Make them think you just realized you're fucked. Throw poison knives and explosives at them when they put up their shields. (Haha, look at this noob thinking he's gonna poison us)

Run away like the coward they should think you are. Let them slaughter some mobs and get their confidence up. Then while they are busy hit them with a spell or bow. Make 'em waste a few estus.

Drag this on until you get back to a mob that's mean enough to help you and then attack like you mean it. Maybe you get lucky and take one out. Maybe a blue shows up. Invasions are not fair.

Oh crap, little icon up there, they seeded you. Except you know where all the mobs are and now you have the ability to trigger scripted events (looking at you Catacombs bridge skeleton army) or drag the meanest mobs you can find back to them.

Again, maybe you kill another one or two of them.

Maybe they run back to the bonfire and refuse to move forward. I'm patient, no timers to worry about here bro, I'm gonna turn my volume up, hide behind this miniboss and get some tea.

Maybe they trick you into going to a part of the level where you can't go back and they laugh standing behind you and it's all over.

Maybe the host says fuck it and turns on his lag switch. Invasions aren't fair.

But maybe, just maybe shit goes your way. A second invader joins. That purple he summoned is starting to think your team looks like more fun. His greys are just there for souls and aren't getting them fast enough and their moms are reminding them they have soccer practice in a half hour.

They're getting bored. They're low on estus, but not you. You were in this for the long run. You just got fresh estus from the two team mates you killed. You've still got a goody bag of items because motha fuckin soul memory is gone and you buy the SHIT out of consumables.

They come around the corner and you spring your trap. Maybe you cut the bridge at the catacombs. Maybe you left some prism stones on the ground to distract them. Maybe you get one of their braver members to fight you on a bridge you practiced rolling around on.

And then you chance it. No more fucking around, now we fight. It's close, but they had no idea what you were really capable of. You weren't even using your real weapon before. As the host falls you throw your choice of emotes. You motha fuckin' owned them.

Or you didn't. Actually, you were tearing them apart but another sunbro you didn't realize was in the game runs up behind you and backstabs you with a hammer.

And you failed. Or did you? You made them waste valuable resources. You lowered their chances of reaching and beating the area boss. You breathed life into an unchanging landscape and transpositioned it into a mine field.

Invasions are not duels. Invasions are not fair. You are not the victor, you are the bad guy in the old Western tying the girl to the train tracks knowing you'll probably never get away with it.

But sometimes you do.

Good job, skeleton.
