I got this beauty for $20!

I feel like you got ripped off but maybe I'm just blessed to live in a frost free zone (9a) where I can plant my entire yard cheaply with succulents that would otherwise turn into a rotten black goo come wintertime if I lived where you do.

Around here every nursury and Home Depot sells healthy 1G Sedum morganianums for 5 bucks or so. Most every neighbor on my street has one and has more cuttings than they can find new homes for. I have one in my yard with 4 foot hanging burro tails all in flower that I potted 10 years ago. The same goes for agaves around here. If I need a new one I just ask a neighbor for a pup. I actually haven't bought plants for a few years now. I just move cuttings around and at this point I've run out of space to plant them all. I also planted lost of native species here and the volunteer like crazy so lately gardening has just become a process of editing and pruning.

I'm very thankful to live in a climate where I can cultivate plants from all over the world all year round. Gardening in socal isn't a seasonal affair. It's a lifestyle. I'd suggest moving here but we're full.

I bet you could find a better price nearby but I'm not familiar with your region whatsoever. I wonder if succulents are treated more like exotics here as appose to the bargain bin prices we get around here. It's hard to make a profit on plants that self propagate so readily.

Anyways I wish you best of luck with your morganium. Give it well draining soil, don't skimp too much on organic content and add some slow release fertilizer and a bit of worm castings when you repot it. Don't leave it in the afternoon sun when the days are long or it will get stressed and yellow. Most sedums prefer a dappled light situation rather than full sun. This may not apply as much further from the equator as you are but keep it in mind if you see yellowing or excessive desiccation of the older leaves. It's an extremely drought tolerant plant but can still tolerate semi regular water; more than most larger leaved succulents.
