Got caught stealing $1500+ in merchandise, do i move to mexico now?

An example of traffic court isn’t the same, that’s a completely different system which is a lot less serious as well as money. You plead not guilty at your first appearance which is called an arraignment which is your first court date, if you plead non guilty you then go to a preliminary hearing where they offer you a deal (lesser charge) to change your plea to guilty or you go to trial if you still want to prove your innocence. Not contradicting at all. (This is only for felonies, misdemeanors are a little different) You just really want this man to go to jail so ur trying to find every excuse. Read my source or look up how many convictions don’t go to trial (94% for state) (99% federal) the number one reason is because it’s expensive, and less efficient for the court system. I know all states are different but the criminal case process is standardized. Here’s another source, https://www.americanbar.org/groups/public_education/resources/law_related_education_network/how_courts_work/pleabargaining/ Prosecutors are encouraged to take plea deals they don’t want to go to trial. And here’s the Arizona criminal process for felonies which outlines exactly what I said. https://www.arizonacriminaldefenselawyer.com/amp/arizona-superior-court-criminal-case-procedures-felonies.html
