Had a similar experience with an acquaintance recently. At a bar for my birthday with friends. This guy goes to the wrong place and gets lost. The rest of us are starting drinking and don't see our phones for 15 or so minutes. We finally realize he's lost and link up, but at this point I feel bad and don't want him to think we were trying to ghost him. When he shows up I offer to get him a drink to make it up to him. He says, "well if you get me two all is forgiven". I assume he's making a dad joke and laugh before shrugging it off. I ask what his drink is and he says the most expensive fancy microbrew available. I'm fine with that because I offered to buy so whatever. When I get the drink at the bar though, I also get myself a pbr. When I turn around to hand him his drink, he reaches over my arms and trys to take my beer as well. I pull back and tell him that I got one for myself. "I thought you said two beers"? I remind him that he said that and not me. Things get super awkward and he spends the rest of the party shooting me dirty looks. He doesn't get invited out anymore.
