So I got my dream job, what's the best thing that you go out of the last 6 months?

That's a huge step! It's great that you're driven towards those! Math and physics were my favorite in high school because they were skill based and not memory based. My life still feels like a continuation of high school, and its impossible to believe that 11 years of college have passed since...

And it's hard to explain, but keep the goal in mind and things will fall in place. My undergrad was in engineering, and I wanted to go to NASA, but it turned out not to be my passion. I knew I wanted to work in the space program, and I spent time learning what my skills really were and how best to apply them.

Europa is super cool because it's a good candidate for life. It has a 100 km deep saltwater ocean in contact with the rocky surface, protected from space by a 20 km thick ice shell. I'm developing computer simulations to figure out how the water might get to the surface!

I actually had a good application because reddit randomly picked up my research on vertical San Andreas Fault motions during my PhD and got the word about my research out there.

But the common theme among scientists and engineers at the lab is that people are passionate about deep space exploration. Don't be shy to tell your counselors/advisors exactly where you want to be. Tell them you want to work the space program for spacex or nasa, and ask them how to get there.
