Got told I was meta-gaming and was threatened to be booted from the campaign. I truly believe I wasn't.

The PC has no concept of "rolling low". The PC made an attempt, and knows the results of it. Giving it your best shot then asking for a second opinion makes your PC look incompetent and unsure.

This assumes hidden rolls, of course. And it should be the same with open rolls else you're a metagamer and need to cut it out.

However, it doesn't matter, because no DM should let another PC attempt the same roll in the same fiction. It doesn't matter if you got a 1 or a 38, nobody else is making that same roll.

The party has detemined the door has no traps OP can find, and nobody else is going to get to roll, so stop asking for other people to roll, OP, and start arguing about who walks through the door.
