The investigators for the city said "don't worry. your landlord is doing something illegal and won't evict you. he is in enough trouble" and they even called the DA for advice.

Nothing was done even though they know he is doing stuff that is illegal. The DA doesn't have the "time" for these cases. The city investigators will "get in trouble" with their manager if they pursue landlords for violating the law (seriously)

The reality is I have to find another place to live during a pandemic or I will have an eviction on my record for the rest of my life. Not looking for sympathy. Lots of people are being kicked out who have it worse than me. Just tired of people thinking Newsom and other "progressive" politicians are actually helping all tenants during this crisis.
