US government spent $97 million attempting to topple Evo Morales and fund bourgeois separatists in his first seven years

Just because the US is misbehaving doesn't mean Evo is a saint.

If it's not about having power for himself why risk delegitimizing his movement by running again and again despite constitutional prohibitions? If it was all about the movement and not about the man why not endorse a like-minded member of the same party to run for office? Did Evo see himself as more important than the movement he was a part of?

Why do so many movements that put an emphasis on equality and social justice focus so much praise and attention on a single individual? One of the most prominent left-wing political philosophies is called Marxism. But capitalism is not called Smithism by anyone. Even fascism is not called Mussolinism (though that definitely was a personality cult at the time he ruled).

I actually agree much moreso with left-wing ideas than right-wing ones. I even think Evo Morales did some good as president. I just don't get why personality cults are so common on the left when the left is supposed to be egalitarian. Dispense with this unhealthy celebrity worship and focus on social justice and the left would have more success.
