One of the most popular, serious and reputable news anchor in Mexico made a comment one night about how people should might as well ignore the health secretary data and recommendations, this was apparently an order pushed by the network's owner who is one of the richest people in Mexico, as a counter to the government calling most of his lines of businesses as non-essential, the whole country went crazy on social media that night, the anchor ended up issuing an apology the next day and saying people should follow the health guidelines. But the damage was done, many people believed in him, and there was a spike on cases on the following days and the incident also helped to give momentum to a huge wave of skeptic people questioning the validity of the data as the anchor suggested.
