Nah, max clock rate on Hynix is like 12% less than max clock rate on Samsung (950 vs 1150)... and modded Vega 56 did like 10% better. So literally that's virtually the whole performance spread between the cards.

Hynix on Vega 56s is a suuuuper bummer. Be honest with me, you know it. Those cards should not be saled at the same thing as the real thing. It's the same thing as shaving cores off a compute-limited model, except this is a memory-limited card (inherently, since it has like 3/4 of the raw bandwidth of Fiji).

Among other implications, Vega 56 is really back into contention even with the 1070 Ti.
