Grammys 2021 Thoughts

The Grammys may seem like some high class, “meaningful” award, but in the end, like a lot of things in the music industry, it’s also a game. A entertainment event. As an American, watching the “Western” performances really give you an idea of where we are musically. It’s sad that we haven’t gotten to the point where people can appreciate music from an “Asian” culture just yet. We are warming up to Spanish but that’s about it. BTS’s music is meaningful and powerful and deserves to be recognized. We simply haven’t gotten there yet.

It’s disappointing. We are disappointed and the boys are putting on a brave face too. I know they feel like their roll in the mainstream Western music scene is an uphill battle...but their fans them love them. Around the world. They have a fan base like no other artist or group. We know what they have and what we have. Recognition from an out dated institution doesn’t change what BTS is or stands for. Chalk it up to a growing experience for them and the GP and let’s move forward.
