The Grand Tour has a lot of meme potential

Militarily it was a defeat. When your military tactic isn't actually winning you the war on a strategic level while the other sides is, you haven't had a militarily successful war. It was militarily a success if you think the goal was to kill as many Vietnamese with as few causalities as possible. Domestic pressure called for the end because the military side of the war was failing on a strategic level and all it was achieving was a lot of dead Vietnamese and traumatised Americans.

Meanwhile the Vietnamese achieved their strategic military objectives, for example with the Tet offensive they reclaimed control of the South Vietnamese countryside and the vital Mekong delta (this was stated by the US) and shocked the US public.
