Seattle got a ton of press in the 90's, between the grunge scene bring a bunch of attention to previously city most of the country forgot exists until the Sonics/Seahawks/Mariners come to town, then Microsoft becoming a household name, then Fraiser being one of the decade's biggest shows and a sitcom not set in NYC, etc. I don't know what it was really like before then, but now it seems like a slightly less crazy Portland that loves progressive posturing but wealthier, more pro-neoliberalism/global capitalism . A more well-to-do, suit-and-tie wearing version of SF fart-sniffing holier-than-though self-satisfied smugness, the PMCs of the 'attle would largely think of Fauci as a god.

P.S. A few months ago I was involved in an amicable discussion of who on that show would be the "just say no to jabs" one. I said Marty, bc of his cynicism and street smarts, others said Daphnie due to her new age/mystical beliefs. Then when watching reruns, in the opening segment of one epsidoe (s.4.ep.13) Fraiser "lies" to the audience he has a fear of needles but will get one anyways, to encourage others to get flu shots, Daphnie says there's nothing to fear about needles except maybe getting an air bubble, the tip breaking off, Daphnie still insists she always gets her flu shot tho, Marty makes no comment on the matter and by the end Fraiser is in panic. Turns out fraiser is the least likely to get it, but would still insist others do it.
