Virtue signalling is a thing, just it gets used far too much and at times when it really doesn't apply.

I don't think it applies to people who are actually standing up against injustices and real problems, but there are examples of it, a good example is big companies doing the whole LGBT support thing, when let's be honest, they don't really give a fuck.

I saw an image the other day showing that all the Bethesda Twitter accounts from the different parts of the world had changed their profile pics to the LBGT flag; except for Russia, Middle East and Turkey. Basically abandoning supposed principles because they know that it will hurt their image in those parts of the world.

And let's not forget online influencers doing photoshoots in their "protest gear", adding on the BLM hashtag to their post, and then doing fuck all to actually help the cause in any meaningful way.
