A great man who saved many lives. Thank you.

First, calling a pellet rifle fired at a bus a school shooting is intellectually dishonest as most reasonable people wouldn't define it as a "school shooting". That was the point I was making, not a statement about the efficacy or inefficacy of air rifles to cause injury.

Secondly, in response to your claim that I'm uninformed regarding pellet guns. I believe you are the one with a cognitive bias regarding of the dangers of air rifles. I'm not saying they aren't dangerous, and I'm well aware they can cause severe injury. However, I also know from years of first hand experience that they can also be fairly harmless. As a pediatric nurse you are only going to see the sample of severely injured children. I, as well as a great many children of my generation, regularly fired air rifles at each other in "BB gun wars" as things like paintball and airsoft hadn't been invented or gained wide spread popularity at the time, and we are no worse for wear. I'm certainly wouldn't call it a low risk activity to be sure, but far more children have been harmlessly shot by air rifles than severely injured by them.
